MotherCircle is a supportive eight-week exploration into what it means to cross the threshold of Motherhood. We gather together to be seen, heard, held, and celebrated. We support each other in making the invisible visible, witnessing and validating our individual experiences.
About MotherCircle
Motherhood is a rite of passage that many of us pass through with little acknowledgment, ritual, or recognition for just how much we change. Our bodies, our relationships, our careers, our dreams, our personalities, our sexual appetite, and our sensuality all warp, bend, and sometimes break through the process.
MotherCircle is a supportive eight-week container for mothers to revisit this transformational threshold and give ourselves today what perhaps we did not receive then. Whether your baby is as yet unborn, in arms or your teenager has left the nest this container is for you.

Based on the work of Kimberly Ann Johnson and Jessica Connolly
Kimberly is the author of Call of The Wild: How We Heal Trauma, Awaken Our Own Power, And Use It For Good (HarperWave, 2021) and the early mothering classic The Fourth Trimester: Healing Your Body, Balancing Your Emotions and Restoring Your Vitality (Shambhala, 2017)
What the classes cover
Entering motherhood is an underworld journey often not seen and recognized by the outer world. Learn the arc of this journey, the tools to be present to it, and be witnessed as you locate yourself within it.
Awareness of our cyclical nature can help us align with our innate wisdom as mothers.. Explore how being in rhythm with the cycles in and around us gives us more access to our wholeness and our power.
Everything a new baby needs, a new mother also needs. Learn a powerful framework for assessing your physical and emotional wellness, and how to tend to what’s needed in your body no matter where you are at in your motherhood journey.
The predator - prey dynamic is present in our experience of birth and motherhood. Explore how this awareness and understanding of your nervous system can impact your everyday life and mothering.
Birth is an initiatory experience that fundamentally changes us. We’ll explore ways to access and share this experience that locates the wisdom that it has to offer for our motherhood journeys
There is often a split between being a mother and being sexual. Learn how to connect with your ever changing sexuality as a mother and become more at home in your body and your sexuality.
Motherhood changes how we relate to our work in the world. Explore the relationship between your worth and your value and anchor the things that nurture your worth as part of your mothering practice.
We have a powerful opportunity to imagine the legacy we’d like to leave. We are shaped by our motherline and the mothers around us, and we can choose what we want to carry forward. Together we’ll Identify the values that we want to guide our mothering and shape our lineage.

Emma Callaghan, Certified MotherCircle Facilitator
"I first took MotherCircle with Kimberly Ann Johnson when my second baby was 18 months old. It was my first introduction to Kimberley's work. I felt seen and heard and understood in a way that I hadn't before as a mama and woman. Understanding that some of the things I was feeling and experiencing, like low sex drive, grief and sadness were part of the Motherhood experience made me feel less alone. Kimberly became my mentor and eventually my boss as I facilitated a private space for women of colour on Kimberly's online courses 'MotherCircle' and 'Activate Your Inner Jaguar'. I have worked for Kimberly for 5 years and in 2023 I trained to become a certified MotherCircle Facilitator so I could bring this important work to mama of Aotearoa.
